I am from Tennessee and Molly grew up here in Worthington. I began a relationship with Jesus my sophomore year of high school at a Young Life camp in Colorado.
Molly and I met the following summer working at a different Young Life Camp. She grew up going to church but never realized that Jesus actually wanted to know her personally–she thought it was all about being a good person–and began to follow him during her sophomore year in high school. We both went to college in Indiana and were involved in leading Young Life throughout our four years there. We were married while in college.
After graduation, I went on full-time staff for Young Life for several years and Molly taught special education at the high school where we led Young Life. After three years of full time staff, I headed back to school to obtain my second degree, this time in teaching. I have been teaching the past five years, and this is my third year teaching high school social studies in an urban setting. These years have pushed and challenged me to rely on God in a new way. I will also finish up my Masters in Educational Administration by year’s end.
Molly stays at home with are three kids: Georgia (’06), Jackson (’08), and Emory June (’09)–she also teaches full-time at an online school.
We’ve been at Vista since September of 2008, and have met some incredible people here! For some time now, Molly has really felt like God had something big in mind for us, but I never envisioned myself working for the church. Obviously God had different ideas in mind, and this is now one of the most exciting ventures that He has placed in our lives.
