African Church Planting

In partnership with Restoration Churches lead by Pastor Daniel Wekesa, Vista has been privileged to provide encouragement and some of the resources necessary for 4 ministry initiatives:

1. Leasing of 15 acres of sugarcane. A profitable local income source for all of the churches. (2010)

2. Completion of 3 permanent church structures. In each case, the structures had been at various stages of completion, yet stalled in their progress due to lack of funds. (2011)

3. Purchase of 5 acres of short-term crop farming. An income stream more profitable than the sugar cane, but more risky due to the less hearty nature of short-term crops. (2011)

4. Planting of 2 new churches. One lead by Pastor John in a temporary structure, and one lead by Pastor Godfrey in an urban rental space. (2012)

Pastor Mike met Pastor Dan on an exploratory trip to West Kenya (Webuye/Bungoma) in the Spring of 2006. Over the years Dan and Mike have kept in touch and built a good and trusting relationship. Mike has visited Africa/Dan 3 times since 2006 and Dan has been our guest twice here in the States. Not until 2010 did we embark on joint initiatives involving financial support.

Here are some photos of the work progress of the 2011 church structures…
